要知道，已婚的女人，在丈夫活著的時候，是被律法約束的；但如果丈夫死了，她就脫離了那關於丈夫的律法。

因此，神所配合的，人不可分開。」

婚姻當受所有人尊重，床也不可玷汙，因為神將要審判淫亂和通姦的人。

照樣，丈夫也應該愛自己的妻子，就像愛自己的身體一樣；那愛自己妻子的，就是愛自己。

至於對那些已經結婚的人，我吩咐——其實不是我，而是主吩咐：妻子不可離開丈夫；但如果還是離開了，就應當守身不嫁，或者與丈夫和好。丈夫也不可離棄妻子。對其餘的人，我說——不是主說：如果某個弟兄有不信的妻子，而妻子情願與他一起生活，他就不可離棄妻子；同樣，如果妻子有不信的丈夫，而丈夫情願與她一起生活，她也不可離棄丈夫，因為那不信的丈夫因著妻子就得以聖潔了；而那不信的妻子也因著丈夫得以聖潔了；否則，你們的兒女就是不潔淨的；但如今他們是聖潔的。

她離棄了年輕時的同伴，忘記了神的約；

你們還問：「為什麼會這樣呢？」這是因為耶和華在你和你年輕時所娶的妻子之間作證：她雖是你的配偶，是你立約的妻子，你卻背棄了她。
