It must not be this way among you! Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

Don’t be like that. Instead, anyone who wants to be important among you must be your servant.

It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,

But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,

It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

It is not this way among you, but whoever wants to become prominent among you shall be your servant,

Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.

Not so shall it be among you: but whosoever would become great among you shall be your minister;

It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

It shall not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.

But it is not this way among you. Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them,“ If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

And do not lord it over those entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock.

I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

But you are not to be called‘ Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers.And call no one your‘ father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.Nor are you to be called‘ teacher,’ for you have one teacher, the Christ.The greatest among you will be your servant.And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Then when Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. He said to them,“ When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, because a person more distinguished than you may have been invited by your host.So the host who invited both of you will come and say to you,‘ Give this man your place.’ Then, ashamed, you will begin to move to the least important place.But when you are invited, go and take the least important place, so that when your host approaches he will say to you,‘ Friend, move up here to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who share the meal with you.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not give you whatever you needed?’

You mix uncleanness with obscene conduct. I tried to cleanse you, but you are not clean. You will not be cleansed from your uncleanness until I have exhausted my anger on you.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation?

for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down argumentsand every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.We are also ready to punish every act of disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.You are looking at outward appearances. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should reflect on this again: Just as he himself belongs to Christ, so too do we.For if I boast somewhat more about our authority that the Lord gave us for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of doing so.I do not want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters,because some say,“ His letters are weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is weak and his speech is of no account.”

When they arrived in Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.( Now they also had John as their assistant.)

Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. (niv)

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s holy people, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished. (niv)

Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people.Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
