He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.

They began to salute him,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”

The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.They kept saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.

You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor. My adversaries are all before you.Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.

Immediately he came to Jesus, and said,“ Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.

Yahweh, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day. Everyone mocks me.

They set up over his head the accusation against him written,“ THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,and saying,“ If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of Yahweh who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.

But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it. They tore at me, and didn’t cease.Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.
