那日是预备逾越节的日子，约有午正。彼拉多对犹太人说：“看哪，这是你们的王！”

到了晚上，因为这是预备日，就是安息日的前一日，

外邦为什么争闹？万民为什么谋算虚妄的事？世上的君王一齐起来，臣宰一同商议，要敌挡耶和华并他的受膏者，说：“我们要挣开他们的捆绑，脱去他们的绳索。”那坐在天上的必发笑；主必嗤笑他们。那时，他要在怒中责备他们，在烈怒中惊吓他们，说：“我已经立我的君在锡安我的圣山上了。”

那日是预备日，安息日也快到了。那些从加利利和耶稣同来的妇女跟在后面，看见了坟墓和他的身体怎样安放。她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。她们在安息日，便遵着诫命安息了。

除酵节的第一天，门徒来问耶稣说：“你吃逾越节的筵席，要我们在哪里给你预备？”

希律和本丢彼拉多，外邦人和以色列民，果然在这城里聚集，要攻打你所膏的圣仆耶稣，成就你手和你意旨所预定必有的事。

犹太人因这日是预备日，又因那安息日是个大日，就求彼拉多叫人打断他们的腿，把他们拿去，免得尸首当安息日留在十字架上。

到了早晨，众祭司长和民间的长老大家商议要治死耶稣，就把他捆绑，解去，交给巡抚彼拉多。
