But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

Jesus answered him,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”Jesus answered,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.Do not marvel that I said to you,‘ You must be born again.’

for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them,“ It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him,“ Lord, do you wash my feet?”Jesus answered him,“ What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.”Peter said to him,“ You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him,“ If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”

whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.“ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
