立身處世、切莫貪財；若能知足、則常樂矣。天主不云乎：『我決不爾棄、有急我當濟。』

凡厚積私財、而貧於天爵者、皆此類也。』

咄咄富人、爾其休矣、災禍將臨爾身、爾盍哀號痛哭乎！爾之財帛朽矣、爾之衣服蝕矣、爾之金銀銹矣。金銀之銹、將為爾罪之鐵證、而成爾體之烙印。哀哉、爾平生所積之寶、適足以為末日積怒耳。

苟有衣食、亦可以知足矣。若夫孳孳為利之人、徒自陷於誘惑、墮入羅網、顛冥昏昧、縱情恣慾、終至沉溺淪亡而後已。信哉、貪財乃萬惡之根也。頗有因求財之故、而離棄正道流入岐途、終至自求辛螫、百慮刺心者焉。

叮嚀斯世富人、不可驕傲；財富無常、未足恃也。所可恃者、惟天主耳。天主慨然以萬物賜予吾人、俾得充量享受者、

耶穌聞其言、而謂之曰：『尚缺一事、當盡鬻所有、施諸貧人、用積寶於天、然後來從予遊。』

當罄售所有、博施濟眾、自製不敝之囊、積無盡之藏於天、盜不得而近之、蠹不得而蝕焉。

耶穌見其狀、而告眾曰：『難矣哉！富人之進天主國也。

貧富貴賤皆泡影。泡影為重人生輕。若衡二者天平上。人生應升泡影沈。

人無百年好。花無百日香。

耶穌曰：『欲為完人、往售所有、施於貧人、積寶於天、再來從我。』
