Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:

“ Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

“ Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.

“ Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.

I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them:He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built.But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great.”

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

He said,“ Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

According to God’s grace that was given to me, I have laid a foundation as a skilled master builder, and another builds on it. But each one is to be careful how he builds on it.For no one can lay any foundation other than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.

In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.But someone will say,“ You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by my works.You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe— and they shudder.Senseless person! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless?Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works in offering Isaac his son on the altar?You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was made complete,and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works in receiving the messengers and sending them out by a different route?For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his instructions have good insight. His praise endures forever.

“ If you love me, you will keep my commands.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

A wise heart accepts commands, but foolish lips will be destroyed.

Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror.For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works— this person will be blessed in what he does.If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless and he deceives himself.Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

“ Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal.For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Judas( not Iscariot) said to him,“ Lord, how is it you’re going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”Jesus answered,“ If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.

If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap,because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.

The revelation of your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced.

For this is what love for God is: to keep his commands. And his commands are not a burden,because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.Who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

The sensible person’s wisdom is to consider his way, but the stupidity of fools deceives them.

“ Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

“ Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.“ You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of me.Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.You were running well. Who prevented you from being persuaded regarding the truth?

But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.“ It was also said, Whoever divorces his wife must give her a written notice of divorce.But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

He will repay each one according to his works:eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality;but wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth while obeying unrighteousness.There will be affliction and distress for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek;

I have more insight than all my teachers because your decrees are my meditation.

“ Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Who among you is wise and understanding? By his good conduct he should show that his works are done in the gentleness that comes from wisdom.But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and deny the truth.Such wisdom does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.

“ For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well.But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses.
