“ You look at the bit of sawdust in your friend’s eye. But you pay no attention to the piece of wood in your own eye.

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

“ And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?

Why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the beam of wood in your own eye?

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well.

Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?How can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

But a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out to meet the army which came to Samaria and said to them,“ Behold, because the Lord, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, He has handed them over to you, and you have killed them in a rage which has even reached heaven.Now you are proposing to subjugate the people of Judah and Jerusalem as male and female slaves for yourselves. Are you not, however guilty yourselves of offenses against the Lord your God?
