Then a teacher of the law came to him and said,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Then a teacher of the law came to him. He said,“ Teacher, I will follow you no matter where you go.”

And a scribe came up and said to him,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Then one of the teachers of religious law said to him,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

A scribe approached him and said,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Then a scribe came and said to Him,“ Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”

Then a certain scribe came and said to Him,“ Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”

And there came a scribe, and said unto him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

A scribe approached Him and said,“ Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go!”

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

A scribe came, and said to him,“ Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Simon Peter said to him,“ Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied,“ Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.”Peter said to him,“ Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!”Jesus answered,“ Will you lay down your life for me? I tell you the solemn truth, the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times!

But Peter said to him,“ Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”Jesus replied,“ I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know me.”

In the same way therefore not one of you can be my disciple if he does not renounce all his own possessions.

As they were walking along the road, someone said to him,“ I will follow you wherever you go.”Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have dens and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”Jesus said to another,“ Follow me.” But he replied,“ Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”But Jesus said to him,“ Let the dead bury their own dead, but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

The expert in the law said to him,“ That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him.And to love him with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”When Jesus saw that he had answered thoughtfully, he said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” Then no one dared any longer to question him.

Now large crowds were accompanying Jesus, and turning to them he said,“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

This Ezra is the one who came up from Babylon. He was a scribe who was skilled in the law of Moses which the LORD God of Israel had given. The king supplied him with everything he requested, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him.
