If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying,“ I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!

若有人心存虚假，用谎言说：‘我要向你们预言得清酒和浓酒。’那人就必作这民的先知。

倘若有骗子撒谎说，‘我预言你们会有美酒佳酿。’他就会成为这个民族的先知。

若有人随从虚假的心，撒谎说：“我要向你们说清酒和烈酒的预言。”那人就是这民的预言家了。

假使有人以虛假的作風往來而撒謊說：『我要向你們發神言講論酒和濃酒的題目』，這種人便可以做這人民的神言人了！

如人從虛偽、尚誑言、曰、我論清酒醇醪、向爾預言、彼則可為斯民之先知焉、○

如人好偽、佯托感神、以清酒醇醪、誨人燕飲、則民樂以為師、

如人尚虛浮、以偽妄之言告民曰、我乃先知、我訓爾宜飲清酒醇醪、我乃先知我訓爾宜飲清酒醇醪原文作我向爾述預言論及酒與醇醪則民尊之為師、○

If a liar and deceiver comes and says,‘ I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ that would be just the prophet for this people!

Suppose a prophet goes around telling lies. And he prophesies that you will have plenty of wine and beer. Then that kind of prophet would be just right for this nation!

Suppose a prophet full of lies would say to you,“ I’ll preach to you the joys of wine and alcohol!” That’s just the kind of prophet you would like!

If a man comes and utters empty lies—“ I will preach to you about wine and beer”— he would be just the preacher for this people!

If someone walking after wind and falsehood Had lied and said,‘ I will prophesy to you about wine and liquor,’ He would become a prophet to this people.

If a man should walk in a false spirit And speak a lie, saying,‘ I will prophesy to you of wine and drink,’ Even he would be the prattler of this people.

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

If a man of wind comes and invents lies:“ I will preach to you about wine and beer,” he would be just the preacher for this people!

If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie,[ saying], I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

If a lying windbag should come and say,‘ I’ll promise you blessings of wine and beer,’ he would be just the right preacher for these people!

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies:“ I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;” he would be the prophet of this people.

the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?

who say to the seers,“ Do not see,” and to the prophets,“ Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,leave the way, turn aside from the path, let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.”

They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord,‘ It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say,‘ No disaster shall come upon you.’”

And Jeremiah the prophet said to the prophet Hananiah,“ Listen, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie.

the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail;

“ For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely.They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,

But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from his evil; all of them have become like Sodom to me, and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way to save his life,

And he said to him,“ I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But he lied to him.

Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to conquerors, because from the least to the greatest everyone is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely.They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.

Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the Lord and say,“ Is not the Lord in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.”

And the Lord said,‘ Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said one thing, and another said another.Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, saying,‘ I will entice him.’ And the Lord said to him,‘ By what means?’And he said,‘ I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said,‘ You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’Now therefore behold, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets. The Lord has declared disaster concerning you.”

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying,‘ I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’

Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, saying,‘ I will entice him.’And the Lord said to him,‘ By what means?’ And he said,‘ I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said,‘ You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’Now therefore behold, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the Lord has declared disaster for you.”

Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are saying to you,‘ You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you.I have not sent them, declares the Lord, but they are prophesying falsely in my name, with the result that I will drive you out and you will perish, you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.”

And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who cry“ Peace” when they have something to eat, but declare war against him who puts nothing into their mouths.

Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the Lord, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the Lord.

Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

suffering wrong as the wage for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, while they feast with you.They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing,but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved.For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

And the Lord said to me:“ The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.

‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall strike them down before your eyes.Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon:“ The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,”because they have done an outrageous thing in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words that I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, declares the Lord.’”

Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel.You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord.They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say,‘ Declares the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word.Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, whenever you have said,‘ Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?”Therefore thus says the Lord God:“ Because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold, I am against you, declares the Lord God.My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord God.Precisely because they have misled my people, saying,‘ Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! There will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out.And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you,‘ Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end.And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord.
