who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders.

They will use their swords to rule over Assyria. They’ll rule the land of Nimrod with swords that are ready to strike. The Assyrians will march across our borders and attack our land. But the promised ruler will save us from them.

they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border.

They will rule Assyria with drawn swords and enter the gates of the land of Nimrod. He will rescue us from the Assyrians when they pour over the borders to invade our land.

希西家王在位第四年，就是以色列王以拉的儿子何细亚在位第七年，亚述王撒缦以色上来攻击撒玛利亚，把城围困；过了三年，他们就攻取了撒玛利亚。希西家在位第六年，就是以色列王何细亚在位第九年，撒玛利亚被攻取了。亚述王把以色列人掳到亚述去，把他们安置在哈腊、哈博河和歌散河，以及玛代人的城里；这是因为他们不听从耶和华他们神的话，违背他的约；耶和华的仆人摩西吩咐的一切，他们都不听从，不遵行。希西家王在位第十四年，亚述王西拿基立上来攻击犹大所有的设防城，占据了它们。犹大王希西家派人往拉吉去见亚述王说：“我有罪了，请你离我回去吧，你们加于我的处分，我必承当。”于是亚述王罚了犹大王希西家九千公斤银子和九百公斤金子。希西家就把耶和华殿和王宫宝库内找到的所有金子都给了他。

狮子的洞穴在哪里？喂养幼狮的地方在哪里？公狮、母狮和幼狮不受惊吓之处，可以闲游的地方又在哪里呢？公狮为幼狮撕碎足够的食物，为母狮掐死活物；把猎物塞满了它的洞，把撕碎的填满了它的穴。万军之耶和华说：看哪！我必攻击你，我要把你的（按照《马索拉文本》，「你的」作「她的」;现参照其他古译本翻译）战车焚烧成烟，刀剑必吞灭你的幼狮；我必从地上除去你的猎物，你使者的声音也必不再有人听见。这流人血的城，有祸了！全城欺诈，充满劫掠；抢夺的事总不止息。鞭声飕飕，轮声辚辚，骏马奔驰，战车颠簸跳动。骑兵腾跃冲锋；刀剑烁烁发亮，枪矛闪闪生光；被杀的人众多，死尸成堆；尸体无数，众人都被尸体绊倒。

救我们脱离仇敌，和恨我们的人的手；

以色列人必把他们带回自己的国土去，以色列家必在耶和华所赐的地上得着这些外族人作仆婢；也要掳掠那些掳掠过他们的，并且统治那些欺压过他们的。

亚述王撒缦以色上来攻击他，他就臣服于他，并且向他进贡。后来，亚述王发觉何细亚阴谋反叛：他曾派使者去见埃及王梭，并且不再向亚述王献上贡物，像过去每年一样。亚述王就拿住他，把他囚在牢里。亚述王上来攻击以色列全国各地，并且到撒玛利亚来，围城三年。

你这毁灭人，自己却不被毁灭的；你这行事诡诈，别人倒不以诡诈待你的，有祸了！你刚停止毁灭人的时候，自己就要被毁灭；你刚停止行诡诈的时候，别人就必以诡诈待你。

因此耶和华领亚述王的将帅来攻打他们，用钩子钩着玛拿西，用铜链锁住他，把他带到巴比伦去。

把我们从仇敌手中救拔出来，叫我们可以坦然无惧，用圣洁公义，在他面前一生一世敬拜他。

亚述啊！我怒气的棍子，有祸了。他们手中拿着我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻击一个不敬虔的国，吩咐他去攻击我恼怒的子民，掳去掠物，抢夺掳物，把他们践踏，像街上的泥土一样。但亚述并没有这样想过，他心里也没有这样打算；他心里倒想毁灭、剪除多国。因为他说：“在我手下的众领袖不都是王吗？迦勒挪不是像迦基米施吗？哈玛不是像亚珥拔吗？撒玛利亚不是像大马士革吗？我的手伸展到这些充满偶像的国，他们雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒玛利亚的还多。我怎样对待撒玛利亚和其中的偶像，不也照样对待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像吗？”主在锡安山和耶路撒冷成全了他一切工作的时候，他必说：我要惩罚亚述王自大的心所结的果子，和他眼目高傲的态度。

耶和华必伸手攻击北方，毁灭亚述，使尼尼微变成荒场，干旱像旷野。
