Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus( which means“ son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

耶稣走近耶利哥的时候，有一个瞎眼的人坐在路旁讨饭，他听见人群经过，就问是什么事。别人告诉他，是拿撒勒人耶稣经过。他就喊叫说：“大卫的子孙耶稣啊，可怜我吧！”在前头走的人责备他，叫他不要出声；但他越发喊叫：“大卫的子孙，可怜我吧！”耶稣站住，吩咐领他过来。等他走近，就问他：“你要我为你作什么？”他说：“主啊，叫我能看见！”耶稣说：“你就看见吧！你的信使你痊愈了。”他立刻看见了，就跟随耶稣，颂赞神。众人看见这事，也赞美神。耶稣进了耶利哥，正经过的时候，

后来乞丐死了，被天使送到亚伯拉罕的怀里。那财主也死了，并且埋葬了。

那时，邻居和以前常常见他讨饭的人说：“这不是那一向坐着讨饭的人吗？”

有一个生来瘸腿的人被人抬来。他们天天把他放在那名叫美门的殿门口，让他好向进殿的人讨饭。他看见彼得和约翰将要进殿，就向他们讨饭。

又有一个乞丐，名叫拉撒路，满身是疮，被人放在财主门口，
