Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus( which means“ son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

耶穌走近耶利哥的時候，有一個瞎眼的人坐在路旁討飯，他聽見人群經過，就問是甚麼事。別人告訴他，是拿撒勒人耶穌經過。他就喊叫說：“大衛的子孫耶穌啊，可憐我吧！”在前頭走的人責備他，叫他不要出聲；但他越發喊叫：“大衛的子孫，可憐我吧！”耶穌站住，吩咐領他過來。等他走近，就問他：“你要我為你作甚麼？”他說：“主啊，叫我能看見！”耶穌說：“你就看見吧！你的信使你痊愈了。”他立刻看見了，就跟隨耶穌，頌讚神。眾人看見這事，也讚美神。耶穌進了耶利哥，正經過的時候，

後來乞丐死了，被天使送到亞伯拉罕的懷裡。那財主也死了，並且埋葬了。

那時，鄰居和以前常常見他討飯的人說：“這不是那一向坐著討飯的人嗎？”

有一個生來瘸腿的人被人抬來。他們天天把他放在那名叫美門的殿門口，讓他好向進殿的人討飯。他看見彼得和約翰將要進殿，就向他們討飯。

又有一個乞丐，名叫拉撒路，滿身是瘡，被人放在財主門口，
