因为假基督和假先知将出现，行很大的神迹奇事来迷惑人，如果可能，甚至要迷惑上帝拣选的子民。

我的羊听我的声音，我也认识他们，他们也跟随我。我要赐他们永生，他们永不灭亡。没有人能从我的手里把他们抢走。

他就会出现，但主耶稣会用自己口中的气毁灭他，用从天降临的荣光废掉他。他来要按照撒旦的伎俩行各样虚假的异能、神迹和奇事，用尽各样诡计欺骗那些将要灭亡的人，因为他们不喜欢接受那能拯救他们的真理。上帝就让他们是非不辨，去相信那些虚假的谎言，使一切不相信真理、反喜爱不义的人都被定罪。主所爱的弟兄姊妹，我们应该时常为你们感谢上帝，因为上帝一开始就拣选了你们，为了使你们借着圣灵得以圣洁，并且相信真理，从而得救。上帝借着我们所传的福音呼召了你们，使你们可以得到我们主耶稣基督的荣耀。

“你们要提防假先知，他们披着羊皮到你们当中，骨子里却是凶残的狼。

耶稣对他说：“你们不看见神迹奇事，总不相信。”

又行大奇迹，当众叫火从天降到地上。它在头一只怪兽面前获准行奇迹，欺骗了普世的人，并吩咐他们为受了刀伤却仍然活着的头一只怪兽塑像。

将有很多人冒我的名来，说，‘我是基督’，欺骗许多人。

凡住在地上的人，就是从创世以来名字没有记在被杀羔羊的生命册上的，都会崇拜怪兽。

这些人是从我们中间出去的，但他们不属于我们。他们如果属于我们，就会留在我们当中了。他们的离去表明他们都不属于我们。

然而，上帝所立的坚实根基永不动摇，这根基上刻着：“主认识谁是属于祂的人”，“凡自称是属于主的人都要离弃罪恶。”

以上的话是针对那些引诱你们离开正道的人写的。

你看见的这怪兽以前出现过，现今没有出现，将来要从无底坑上来，然后走向灭亡。那些住在地上、自创世以来名字没有记在生命册上的人，都因见到这只从前出现过、现今没有出现、将来会再出现的怪兽而感到惊奇。
