因為假基督和假先知將出現，行很大的神蹟奇事來迷惑人，如果可能，甚至要迷惑上帝揀選的子民。

我的羊聽我的聲音，我也認識他們，他們也跟隨我。我要賜他們永生，他們永不滅亡。沒有人能從我的手裡把他們搶走。

他就會出現，但主耶穌會用自己口中的氣毀滅他，用從天降臨的榮光廢掉他。他來要按照撒旦的伎倆行各樣虛假的異能、神蹟和奇事，用盡各樣詭計欺騙那些將要滅亡的人，因為他們不喜歡接受那能拯救他們的真理。上帝就讓他們是非不辨，去相信那些虛假的謊言，使一切不相信真理、反喜愛不義的人都被定罪。主所愛的弟兄姊妹，我們應該時常為你們感謝上帝，因為上帝一開始就揀選了你們，為了使你們藉著聖靈得以聖潔，並且相信真理，從而得救。上帝藉著我們所傳的福音呼召了你們，使你們可以得到我們主耶穌基督的榮耀。

「你們要提防假先知，他們披著羊皮到你們當中，骨子裡卻是凶殘的狼。

耶穌對他說：「你們不看見神蹟奇事，總不相信。」

又行大奇蹟，當眾叫火從天降到地上。牠在頭一隻怪獸面前獲准行奇蹟，欺騙了普世的人，並吩咐他們為受了刀傷卻仍然活著的頭一隻怪獸塑像。

將有很多人冒我的名來，說，『我是基督』，欺騙許多人。

凡住在地上的人，就是從創世以來名字沒有記在被殺羔羊的生命冊上的，都會崇拜怪獸。

這些人是從我們中間出去的，但他們不屬於我們。他們如果屬於我們，就會留在我們當中了。他們的離去表明他們都不屬於我們。

然而，上帝所立的堅實根基永不動搖，這根基上刻著：「主認識誰是屬於祂的人」，「凡自稱是屬於主的人都要離棄罪惡。」

以上的話是針對那些引誘你們離開正道的人寫的。

你看見的這怪獸以前出現過，現今沒有出現，將來要從無底坑上來，然後走向滅亡。那些住在地上、自創世以來名字沒有記在生命冊上的人，都因見到這只從前出現過、現今沒有出現、將來會再出現的怪獸而感到驚奇。
