不用比喻，就不對他們講；私下裏才對門徒解釋一切。

耶穌和門徒走近耶路撒冷，來到伯法其，橄欖山那裏，耶穌便差遣兩個門徒，

門徒上前來，對耶穌說：『你對眾人說話，為甚麼用比喻呢？』

耶穌順着加利利的海邊走，看見西門和西門的兄弟安得烈在海裏撒網子；因為他們是漁夫。耶穌對他們說：『來跟着我，我必使你們成了得人的漁夫。』他們立刻撇下了網子，跟從他。耶穌稍往前走，看見西庇太的兒子雅各、和雅各的兄弟約翰、在船上修整着網子。

他不許任何人跟隨着他，只許彼得雅各和雅各的兄弟約翰。

過了六天，耶穌帶着彼得雅各和雅各的兄弟約翰，領他們上了高山另在一處；

耶穌在橄欖山上坐着，門徒暗暗地上他跟前來，說：『請告訴我們：甚麼時候會有這些事呢？你的御臨，以及今世的完結，會有甚麼迹象呢？』

從約翰聽見而跟從耶穌的那兩個人、一個是西門彼得的兄弟安得烈；這個人首先找着自己的哥哥西門，對他說：『我們遇見了彌賽亞了』，（「彌賽亞」翻譯出來就是上帝所膏立者「基督」）。

耶穌離開那一羣人，進了屋裏，門徒就上他跟前來說：『請把田間稗子的比喻給我們講解吧。』

過了六天，耶穌帶着彼得雅各約翰，領他們上了高山，單獨地另在一處。在他們面前他變了形質了：

西庇太的兒子雅各約翰走近耶穌跟前來，對他說：『老師，我們無論向你求甚麼，願你給我們作。』

於是帶着彼得雅各和約翰、同他到一邊去，就非常驚恐，極其難過。
