We would not give our daughters as wives to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

并不将我们的女儿嫁给这地的居民，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

我们不将女儿嫁给当地的人，也不为儿子娶当地的女子。

我们必不把我们的女儿嫁给这地的外族人，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

就是說，我們決不將我們的女兒嫁給這地別族之民，也不為我們的兒子娶他們的女兒。

不以我女嫁斯土之民、不為我子娶其女、

不以女嫁異邦人、不以異邦人之女娶為媳。

皆從貴顯之同族、發誓立盟、必遵天主僕摩西所傳天主之律法、謹守遵行我主耶和華之一切誡命、律例、法度、

“ We promise not to give our daughters in marriage to the peoples around us or take their daughters for our sons.

Here is what the priests, Levites and people said.“ We promise not to let our daughters marry men from the nations around us. And we promise not to let their daughters marry our sons.

We will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.

“ We promise not to let our daughters marry the pagan people of the land, and not to let our sons marry their daughters.

We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.

and that we would not give our daughters unto the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:

“ We will not give our daughters in marriage to the neighboring peoples, and we will not take their daughters in marriage for our sons.

and that we would not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.

Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son.

Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them,“ You have transgressed and have taken pagan wives, adding to the guilt of Israel.Now therefore, make confession to the Lord God of your fathers, and do His will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the pagan wives.”Then all the assembly answered and said with a loud voice,“ Yes! As you have said, so we must do.

Now therefore, do not give your daughters as wives for their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons; and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your children forever.’And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this,should we again break Your commandments, and join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?

When these things were done, the leaders came to me, saying,“ The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, with respect to the abominations of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass.”So when I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and plucked out some of the hair of my head and beard, and sat down astonished.
