The LORD said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. Then he inscribed the words on two stone tablets and gave them to me.Then, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness while the mountain was ablaze, all your tribal leaders and elders approached me.You said,“ The LORD our God has shown us his great glory and we have heard him speak from the middle of the fire. It is now clear to us that God can speak to human beings and they can keep on living.But now, why should we die, because this intense fire will consume us! If we keep hearing the voice of the LORD our God we will die!Who is there from the entire human race who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the middle of the fire as we have, and has lived?

Your instructions are totally reliable; all your just regulations endure.שׂ/שׁ( Sin/ Shin)

You stood before the LORD your God at Horeb and he said to me,“ Assemble the people before me so that I can tell them my commands. Then they will learn to revere me all the days they live in the land, and they will instruct their children.”You approached and stood at the foot of the mountain, a mountain ablaze to the sky above it and yet dark with a thick cloud.Then the LORD spoke to you from the middle of the fire; you heard speech but you could not see anything– only a voice was heard.And he revealed to you the covenant he has commanded you to keep, the ten commandments, writing them on two stone tablets.

But if I do what I don’t want, I agree that the law is good.

The law of the LORD is perfect and preserves one’s life. The rules set down by the LORD are reliable and impart wisdom to the inexperienced.The LORD’s precepts are fair and make one joyful. The LORD’s commands are pure and give insight for life.The commands to fear the LORD are right and endure forever. The judgments given by the LORD are trustworthy and absolutely just.They are of greater value than gold, than even a great amount of pure gold; they bring greater delight than honey, than even the sweetest honey from a honeycomb.Yes, your servant finds moral guidance there; those who obey them receive a rich reward.

Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you except to revere him, to obey all his commandments, to love him, to serve him with all your mind and being,and to keep the Lord’s commandments and statutes that I am giving you today for your own good?

For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwindand the blast of a trumpet and a voice uttering words such that those who heard begged to hear no more.For they could not bear what was commanded:“ If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.”In fact, the scene was so terrifying that Moses said,“ I shudder with fear.”But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assemblyand congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect,and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.Take care not to refuse the one who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less shall we, if we reject the one who warns from heaven?Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised,“ I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.”

On the third day in the morning there was thunder and lightning and a dense cloud on the mountain, and the sound of a very loud horn; all the people who were in the camp trembled.Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their place at the foot of the mountain.Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, Moses was speaking and God was answering him with a voice.The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain, and the LORD summoned Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

Have a people ever heard the voice of God speaking from the middle of fire, as you yourselves have, and lived to tell about it?

When you performed awesome deeds that took us by surprise, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.

I gave them my statutes and revealed my regulations to them. The one who carries them out will live by them!I also gave them my Sabbaths as a reminder of our relationship, so that they would know that I, the LORD, sanctify them.But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not follow my statutes and they rejected my regulations( the one who obeys them will live by them), and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I decided to pour out my rage on them in the wilderness and destroy them.

The LORD said to Moses:“ Thus you will tell the Israelites:‘ You yourselves have seen that I have spoken with you from heaven.

God comes from Teman, the sovereign one from Mount Paran. Selah. His splendor covers the skies, his glory fills the earth.

And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just as this whole law that I am about to share with you today?

The LORD spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.

You are just, O LORD, and your judgments are fair.

He said: The Lord came from Sinai and revealed himself to Israel from Seir. He appeared in splendor from Mount Paran, and came forth with ten thousand holy ones. With his right hand he gave a fiery law to them.

If only you would tear apart the sky and come down! The mountains would tremble before you!

So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good.Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Absolutely not! But sin, so that it would be shown to be sin, produced death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.For we know that the law is spiritual– but I am unspiritual, sold into slavery to sin.
