In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock; you told them to go in and take possession of the land you had sworn with uplifted hand to give them.

When the people were hungry, you gave them bread from heaven. When they were thirsty, you brought them water out of a rock. You told them to go into the land of Canaan. You told them to take it as their own. It was the land you had promised to give them.

When the layer of dew had evaporated, there on the surface of the desert was a thin flaky substance, thin like frost on the earth.When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another,“ What is it?” because they did not know what it was. Moses said to them,“ It is the bread that the LORD has given you for food.

They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky.He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions.

I also swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them to the land I had given them– a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.

who turned a rock into a pool of water, a hard rock into springs of water!

Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written,‘ He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”Then Jesus told them,“ I tell you the solemn truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”So they said to him,“ Sir, give us this bread all the time!”Jesus said to them,“ I am the bread of life. So he humbled you by making you hungry and then feeding you with unfamiliar manna. He did this to teach you that humankind cannot live by bread alone, but also by everything that comes from the LORD’s mouth.

and who brought you through the great, fearful desert of venomous serpents and scorpions, an arid place with no water. He made water flow from a flint rock andfed you in the desert with manna( which your ancestors had never before known) so that he might by humbling you test you and eventually bring good to you.

You imparted your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold your manna from their mouths; you provided water for their thirst.

He rained down manna for them to eat; he gave them the grain of heaven.Man ate the food of the mighty ones. He sent them more than enough to eat.

Then the LORD spoke to Moses:“ Take the staff and assemble the community, you and Aaron your brother, and then speak to the rock before their eyes. It will pour forth its water, and you will bring water out of the rock for them, and so you will give the community and their beasts water to drink.”So Moses took the staff from before the LORD, just as he commanded him.Then Moses and Aaron gathered the community together in front of the rock, and he said to them,“ Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock for you?”Then Moses raised his hand, and struck the rock twice with his staff. And water came out abundantly. So the community drank, and their beasts drank too.Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me enough to show me as holy before the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them.”These are the waters of Meribah, because the Israelites contended with the LORD, and his holiness was maintained among them.

Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”

You will by no means enter into the land where I swore to settle you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

“ Moses my servant is dead. Get ready! Cross the Jordan River! Lead these people into the land which I am ready to hand over to them.I am handing over to you every place you set foot, as I promised Moses.Your territory will extend from the wilderness in the south to Lebanon in the north. It will extend all the way to the great River Euphrates in the east( including all of Syria) and all the way to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.

Yes, the depths of the sea shook with fear.The clouds poured down rain; the skies thundered.
