巴珊王噩是最後一個利乏音人。他的床是鐵做的，存放在亞捫人的拉巴城，長四米，寬一點八米。

上帝的寶座設立在大地的圓圈之上，地上的人類好像蚱蜢。祂鋪展諸天，就像鋪展幔子、鋪展人居住的帳篷。

「從前以米人住在亞珥，他們人數眾多，像亞衲人一樣身材高大。

他們經南地到達希伯崙。希伯崙城比埃及的鎖安城還要早建七年，那裡住著亞衲人的子孫亞希幔、示篩和撻買。

非利士營中有個名叫歌利亞的巨人出來討戰。他來自迦特，身高三米，頭戴銅盔，身穿重達五十七公斤的鎧甲，腿上有銅護膝，肩背銅戟。戟柄粗如織布機的軸，鐵戟頭重七公斤。有衛士拿著他的盾牌走在前面。

在迦特的一次交戰中，有一個非利士巨人每隻手腳各有六個手指和腳趾，共二十四個手指和腳趾。他向以色列人罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單就殺了他。這四個迦特巨人的後裔都死在大衛和他的部下手裡。

還曾殺死一個兩米多高的埃及巨人。當時埃及人拿著織布機軸般粗的長矛，比拿雅只拿著棍子迎戰，他奪了對方的長矛，用那矛刺死了對方。

歌利亞見大衛是個面色紅潤、相貌英俊的少年，就藐視他。
