耶穌說：「手扶著犁向後看的人不配進上帝的國。」

既然有這麼多見證人像雲彩一般圍繞著我們，我們就要放下一切重擔，擺脫容易纏累我們的罪，以堅忍的心奔跑我們前面的賽程，定睛仰望為我們的信心創始成終的耶穌。祂為了擺在前面的喜樂，就輕看羞辱，忍受了十字架的痛苦，如今已坐在上帝寶座的右邊。

這並不是說我已經得到了或者純全了，我還要竭力追求，或者可以達到基督耶穌要我達到的目標。

你們不知道嗎？在運動場上賽跑的人雖然個個都在跑，但冠軍只有一個。同樣，你們也要努力奔跑，好獲得獎賞。參加比賽的選手要接受嚴格的訓練，以求贏得桂冠，但這桂冠終必朽壞，我們要贏得的卻是永不朽壞的桂冠。因此，我奔跑不是漫無目標，我擊拳不是打空氣。我嚴格訓練自己，克服自身的軟弱，免得我傳福音給別人，自己卻被淘汰了。

我曾向耶和華求一件事，我還要求，就是能一生住在祂的殿中，瞻仰祂的榮美，尋求祂的旨意。

不但如此，我看萬事都毫無價值，因為認識我主基督耶穌最寶貴。我為祂失去了一切，我把失去的一切視為垃圾，好得到基督，

所以我們要離開有關基督的初級道理，努力邁向成熟，而不是再次打基礎：教導為致死的行為悔改、信靠上帝、

我並非有缺乏才這樣說，因為我已經學會在任何處境中都能知足。我知道如何過貧窮的日子，也知道如何過富足的日子。我學到了秘訣，不論飽足或饑餓，豐裕或缺乏，在任何情況下都可以處之泰然。靠著賜我力量的那位，我凡事都能做。

所以，我親愛的弟兄姊妹，既然我在你們那裡的時候，你們一向都很順服；如今我不在你們那裡，你們更要順服，要戰戰兢兢地活出得救後應有的生命。

那又怎樣呢？無論他們傳福音是真心還是假意，基督的福音畢竟傳開了，因此我很歡喜，而且歡喜不已。因為我知道，藉著你們的禱告和耶穌基督之靈的幫助，我終會得到釋放。我殷切地期待和盼望：我不會感到任何羞愧，而是放膽無懼，不管是生是死，都要一如既往地使基督在我身上得到尊崇。因為對我來說，活著是為了基督，死了也有益處。

其實最要緊的事只有一件，瑪麗亞選擇了上好的，是奪不走的。」

從今以後，我們不再以貌取人了，雖然我們曾這樣看待基督，現在卻不再這樣看待祂了。

親愛的弟兄姊妹，有一件事你們不可忽略，就是主看一日如千年，千年如一日。

女子啊，要側耳傾聽：不要再掛念家鄉的父老，

但如今福音傳遍了這一帶，況且我幾年來一直盼望去你們那裡，所以我想去西班牙的途中路過你們那裡，稍作停留，享受與你們的相聚之樂，然後由你們資助我上路。但現在我要去耶路撒冷服侍當地的聖徒，因為馬其頓和亞該亞的教會欣然捐出了財物給耶路撒冷的窮困聖徒。這固然是他們慷慨解囊，但也可以說是他們該還的債。外族人既然分享了猶太聖徒屬靈的福分，現在以物質報答他們也是應該的。等我辦完這件事，將捐款交付他們之後，我就會途經你們那裡去西班牙。我知道我去的時候，必會把基督豐盛的祝福帶給你們。
