Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.

Hands that work hard will rule. But people who are lazy will be forced to work.

The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.

He saw that rest was good, And that the land was pleasant; He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden, And became a band of slaves.

A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, And will share an inheritance among the brothers.

that is, their descendants who were left in the land after them, whom the children of Israel had not been able to destroy completely— from these Solomon raised forced labor, as it is to this day.

Now it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, they sent for him and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
