Anyone tormented by the guilt of murder will seek refuge in the grave; let no one hold them back.

Anyone troubled by the guilt of murder will seek to escape their guilt by death. No one should keep them from it.

A murderer’s tormented conscience will drive him into the grave. Don’t protect him!

Someone burdened by bloodguilt will be a fugitive until death. Let no one help him.

A person who is burdened with the guilt of human blood Will be a fugitive until death; no one is to support him!

A man burdened with bloodshed will flee into a pit; Let no one help him.

A man that is laden with the blood of any person Shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.

A man that doeth violence to the blood of[ any] person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

“ Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.

But if a man willfully attacks another to kill him by cunning, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.

You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and three cities in the land of Canaan, to be cities of refuge.These six cities shall be for refuge for the people of Israel, and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them, that anyone who kills any person without intent may flee there.“ But if he struck him down with an iron object, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall be put to death.And if he struck him down with a stone tool that could cause death, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall be put to death.Or if he struck him down with a wooden tool that could cause death, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall be put to death.The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death; when he meets him, he shall put him to death.And if he pushed him out of hatred or hurled something at him, lying in wait, so that he died,or in enmity struck him down with his hand, so that he died, then he who struck the blow shall be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.“ But if he pushed him suddenly without enmity, or hurled anything on him without lying in waitor used a stone that could cause death, and without seeing him dropped it on him, so that he died, though he was not his enemy and did not seek his harm,then the congregation shall judge between the manslayer and the avenger of blood, in accordance with these rules.And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the boundaries of his city of refuge to which he fled,and the avenger of blood finds him outside the boundaries of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood.For he must remain in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest, but after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return to the land of his possession.And these things shall be for a statute and rule for you throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.“ If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the evidence of witnesses. But no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.Moreover, you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall be put to death.And you shall accept no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the high priest.You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell, for I the Lord dwell in the midst of the people of Israel.”

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said,“ What is that to us? See to it yourself.”And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

And of Jezebel the Lord also said,‘ The dogs shall eat Jezebel within the walls of Jezreel.’

‘ As surely as I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons— declares the Lord— I will repay you on this plot of ground.’ Now therefore take him up and throw him on the plot of ground, in accordance with the word of the Lord.”

But they conspired against him, and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada, Zechariah’s father, had shown him, but killed his son. And when he was dying, he said,“ May the Lord see and avenge!”At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.Though the army of the Syrians had come with few men, the Lord delivered into their hand a very great army, because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash.When they had departed from him, leaving him severely wounded, his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.

And you shall say to him,‘ Thus says the Lord,“ Have you killed and also taken possession?”’ And you shall say to him,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your own blood.”’”

When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another,“ No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”
