Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,

Happy is a man who finds wisdom and who acquires understanding,

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man.Then I said:“ Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard.Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools.Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.”

Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

“ Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it.Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord;

So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.Now all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.

If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;

Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions.She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart.So Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing so difficult for the king that he could not explain it to her.And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her.Then she said to the king:“ It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom.However I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard.Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”
