The one who corrects a mocker will bring dishonor on himself; the one who rebukes a wicked man will get hurt.

譴責侮慢者、反受凌辱、督責惡人者、反見污衊。

譴責侮慢者、反受凌辱、規勸惡人者、反被詬詈、

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.

When you correct someone who makes fun of others, you might be laughed at. When you warn a sinner, you might get hurt.

Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.

Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt.

The one who corrects a mocker will bring abuse on himself; the one who rebukes the wicked will get hurt.

One who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And one who rebukes a wicked person gets insults for himself.

“ He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself.

He that correcteth a scoffer getteth to himself reviling; And he that reproveth a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked[ man getteth] himself a blot.

Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult; whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse.

One who corrects a mocker invites insult. One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

A mocker doesn’t love one who corrects him; he will not consult the wise.

So the Lord’s anger was against Amaziah, and He sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why have you sought a people’s gods that could not deliver their own people from your hand?”While he was still speaking to him, the king asked,“ Have we made you the king’s counselor? Stop, why should you lose your life?” So the prophet stopped, but he said,“ I know that God intends to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice.”

But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising His words, and scoffing at His prophets, until the Lord’s wrath was so stirred up against His people that there was no remedy.

When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him,“ Is that you, you destroyer of Israel?”

Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah came up, hit Micaiah in the face, and demanded,“ Did the Spirit of the Lord leave me to speak to you?”

Look, I’ve got two daughters who haven’t had sexual relations with a man. I’ll bring them out to you, and you can do whatever you want to them. However, don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the protection of my roof.”“ Get out of the way!” they said, adding,“ This one came here as a foreigner, but he’s acting like a judge! Now we’ll do more harm to you than to them.” They put pressure on Lot and came up to break down the door.

Ahab said to Elijah,“ So, you have caught me, my enemy.” He replied,“ I have caught you because you devoted yourself to do what is evil in the Lord’s sight.

Don’t speak to a fool, for he will despise the insight of your words.

and say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this guy in prison and feed him only bread and water until I come back safely.’”

The Spirit of God took control of Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood above the people and said to them,“ This is what God says,‘ Why are you transgressing the Lord’s commands and you do not prosper? Because you have abandoned the Lord, He has abandoned you.’”But they conspired against him and stoned him at the king’s command in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.King Joash didn’t remember the kindness that Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had extended to him, but killed his son. While he was dying, he said,“ May the Lord see and demand an account.”
