即其瓦礫、爾僕亦悅之、即其塵沙、爾僕亦愛之兮。

主之僕人、喜悅郇之石、珍愛郇之塵土、

吾主必興起。愍我西溫卑。西溫卑已極。蒙寵宜今茲。

For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.

The stones of your destroyed city are priceless to us. Even its dust brings deep concern to us.

For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust.

For your people love every stone in her walls and cherish even the dust in her streets.

For your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust.

And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish— stones that are burned?”

O God, the nations have come into Your inheritance; Your holy temple they have defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget its skill!If I do not remember you, Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth— If I do not exalt Jerusalem Above my chief joy.

And they said to me,“ The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”

Then the heads of the fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, with all whose spirits God had moved, arose to go up and build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.

And when the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem.Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brethren, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.Though fear had come upon them because of the people of those countries, they set the altar on its bases; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening burnt offerings.

Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem,

Then I said to them,“ You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.”

For they have devoured Jacob, And laid waste his dwelling place.Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low.Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake!Why should the nations say,“ Where is their God?” Let there be known among the nations in our sight The avenging of the blood of Your servants which has been shed.

“ O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us.

Then Judah said,“ The strength of the laborers is failing, and there is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall.”

and said to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should my face not be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire?”
