Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

If the Lord doesn’t build a house, the work of the builders is useless. If the Lord doesn’t watch over a city, it’s useless for those on guard duty to stand watch over it.

種植者與灌溉者均不足貴也；所可貴者惟賜其發榮滋長之天主耳。

君王兵雖多。不能必制勝。勇士力拔山。不能保其命。馬蕭蕭。車轔轔。窮兵黷武殃及身。神目所青睞。惟在虔敬人。一心望主者。必得沐甘霖。

爾立主扶持。足跟誰能移。爾眠主守護。眷爾如嬌兒。佑爾無朝暮。更比慈母慈。慈母有時倦。爾主永不睡。

惟願我義塞。向主披心臆。

基督未復活、則吾輩之所傳、爾等之所信、悉屬無稽之談矣。

良朋邀我上聖山。相偕入殿謁天顏。同心之言馨如蘭。
