How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog— it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.

Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’“ Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left to pass on to one’s children.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

The more words you speak, the less they mean. So what good are they?In the few days of our meaningless lives, who knows how our days can best be spent? Our lives are like a shadow. Who can tell what will happen on this earth after we are gone?

“ Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher,“ completely meaningless.”

“ And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.

Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.

“ Evil people may have piles of money and may store away mounds of clothing.But the righteous will wear that clothing, and the innocent will divide that money.

It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.

In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

Those who are wise must finally die, just like the foolish and senseless, leaving all their wealth behind.The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves,

I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless— like chasing the wind.

I collected great sums of silver and gold, the treasure of many kings and provinces. I hired wonderful singers, both men and women, and had many beautiful concubines. I had everything a man could desire!

As the Scriptures say,“ People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades.

I observed yet another example of something meaningless under the sun.This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself,“ Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing.

for riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation.

Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth passes to the godly.

So I came to hate life because everything done here under the sun is so troubling. Everything is meaningless— like chasing the wind.I came to hate all my hard work here on earth, for I must leave to others everything I have earned.And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!So I gave up in despair, questioning the value of all my hard work in this world.Some people work wisely with knowledge and skill, then must leave the fruit of their efforts to someone who hasn’t worked for it. This, too, is meaningless, a great tragedy.

But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said,“ Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”But the Lord said to her,“ My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.
