“ The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,

My soul faints for your salvation. I hope in your word.My eyes fail for your word. I say,“ When will you comfort me?”

Then Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”

All my bones shall say,“ Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”

You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,

There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation, neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what shall we do?”Peter said to them,“ Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying,“ Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.

Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.

For the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, says:“ I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.I was angry because of the iniquity of his covetousness and struck him. I hid myself and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.

“ Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole.

He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,brought them out, and said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”They said,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.He took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household.He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his household, having believed in God.
