世間人無論尊卑、皆屬虛妄、若置之權衡、必然浮起、悉輕於虛空、悉輕於虛空或作比呼吸之氣尤輕

吾民其恃主。向主披肺腑。雖在危厄終必安。主是吾人停泊所。

Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

Surely ordinary people are only a breath. Important people are not what they seem to be. If they were weighed on a scale, they wouldn’t amount to anything. Together they are only a breath.

Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.

Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air.

Common people are only a vapor; important people, an illusion. Together on a scale, they weigh less than a vapor.

People of low standing are only breath, and people of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up. Together they are lighter than breath.

Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.

Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor.

Surely men of low degree[ are] vanity,[ and] men of high degree[ are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they[ are] altogether[ lighter] than vanity.

Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air.

看啊，列國就像水桶中的一滴水，又如天平上的塵埃。祂舉起眾海島，好像捧起微塵。

萬國在祂面前都算不得什麼，在祂看來不過是虛無。

投靠耶和華勝過倚靠權貴。

因為人犯罪，你管教他們，使他們所愛的被吞噬，像被蟲蛀。世人不過是一絲氣息。（細拉）

大衛又問耶和華：「基伊拉的人會不會把我和我的部下交給掃羅呢？」耶和華說：「他們一定會。」

他心裡想：「我把這個女兒給大衛，讓他中圈套，好藉非利士人的手殺掉他。」於是，他對大衛說：「你現在還有一次機會做我的女婿。」他又吩咐臣僕，說：「你們私底下告訴大衛，說王很欣賞他，群臣都愛戴他，勸他做王的女婿。」掃羅的臣僕把這話告訴了大衛，大衛卻說：「做王的女婿豈是一件小事呢？我不過是個貧窮卑微的人。」臣僕把這番話回報掃羅，掃羅說：「你們去告訴大衛，就說王只需要一百個非利士人的包皮作聘禮，好向他的敵人報仇。」掃羅想讓大衛死在非利士人的手上。臣僕把這番話告訴了大衛，大衛欣然答應做王的女婿。期限到來之前，

西弗人去基比亞見掃羅，說：「大衛就躲在我們那裡，在曠野南面哈基拉山上何利沙的堡壘裡。王啊，你隨時都可以下來，我們一定把他交在王的手裡。」

有人告訴大衛，亞希多弗也叛變，投奔了押沙龍，大衛就禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的謀算都變得愚不可及。」

當然不會！縱然人人都撒謊，上帝仍然真實可靠。正如聖經上說：「你的判語證明你是公義的；你雖被人控告，卻終必得勝。」

押沙龍這樣對待每一個來向王申訴的以色列人，贏得了民心。

我曾驚恐地說：「人人都說謊。」

無論掃羅派大衛辦什麼事，他都表現出色。掃羅派他做軍隊的將領，民眾和掃羅的臣僕都非常滿意。

掃羅說：「我犯罪了。我兒大衛，你回來吧，我不會再傷害你，因為你今日保存了我的性命。我真是糊塗，犯了大錯。」大衛答道：「王的矛在這裡，請派一個人來拿回去吧。耶和華賜福給公義、信實的人。今天耶和華把你交在我手中，但我不願下手傷害耶和華所膏立的王。我今天保存了你的性命，願耶和華也保存我的性命，救我脫離一切患難。」掃羅對大衛說：「我兒大衛，願你蒙福。你一定能建功立業，戰勝仇敵。」於是，大衛起身離開，掃羅也回家去了。

眾人喊道：「除掉祂！除掉祂！把祂釘在十字架上！」彼拉多說：「我可以把你們的王釘在十字架上嗎？」祭司長答道：「除了凱撒，我們沒有別的王！」

她們跳舞歌唱：「掃羅殺死千千，大衛殺死萬萬。」

眾人前呼後擁，歡呼著說：「和散那歸於大衛的後裔！奉主名來的當受稱頌！和散那歸於至高之處的上帝！」

可是，竟然是你——我志同道合的夥伴，我的摯友！從前我們情誼深厚，與眾人同去上帝的殿。
