所以你們應當彼此認罪，互相代求，這樣你們就可以痊愈。義人祈禱所發出的力量，是大有功效的。以利亞是與我們性情相同的人；他懇切祈求不要下雨，地上就三年零六個月沒有雨；他又祈禱，天就下雨，地就生出土產來。

他差派了他的僕人摩西，和他揀選的亞倫。他們在敵人中間施行他的神蹟，在含地顯明他的奇事。他命黑暗降下，使那地黑暗；他的話是不能違背的。他使埃及的水都變成血，使他們的魚都死掉。在他們的地上，以及君王的內室，青蛙多多滋生。他一發命令，蒼蠅就成群而來，並且虱子進入他們的四境。他給他們降下冰雹為雨，又在他們的地上降下火燄。他擊打他們的葡萄樹和無花果樹，又毀壞他們境內的樹木。他一發命令，蝗蟲就來，蚱蜢也來，多得無法數算，吃盡了他們地上的一切植物，吃光了他們土地的出產。他擊殺了他們境內所有的長子，就是他們強壯的時候所生的頭生子。

耶和華的話臨到我說：“人子啊！主耶和華對以色列地這樣說：‘終局到了！終局臨到這地的四境了！現在終局已經臨到你了。我要發怒攻擊你，按著你的行為審判你，照著你一切可憎的事報應你。我的眼必不顧惜你，我也不憐恤你，我卻要按著你的行為，照著你中間可憎的事報應你，你們就知道我是耶和華。’主耶和華這樣說：‘看哪，災禍，獨特的災禍，臨到了！終局到了，終局臨到了，它已經起來跟你作對。看哪，它臨到了！這地的居民哪，災害臨到你了！時候到了，日子近了，是混亂喧嚷的日子，不是山上歡呼的日子。現在我快要把我的烈怒倒在你身上，向你完全發盡我的怒氣。我要按著你的行為審判你，照著你一切可憎的事報應你。我的眼必不顧惜，我也不憐恤。我卻要按著你的行為，照著你中間可憎的事報應你，你們就知道擊打你們的是我耶和華。“‘看哪，這日子到了！災害已經發出，杖已經開花，狂傲已經發芽。強暴興起，成了懲罰邪惡的杖，他們無一存留，他們的群眾都不在了。他們的財富沒有了，他們中間也沒有尊榮。時候到了，日子近了，買的不必歡喜，賣的不用憂愁；因為烈怒要臨到眾人身上。
