爾自稱富有、無所匱缺、不知爾實困苦貧乏、瞽目裸身、

爾自言我富厚有財、無所匱缺、不知爾實可憫、困苦、貧乏、瞽目、裸身、

爾自謂富有、綽有餘裕、而無所欠缺；殊不知爾實為百無聊賴、貧窮不堪、盲而裸者。

You say,‘ I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

You say,‘ I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

When Jesus heard it, he said to them,“ Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.

There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.

What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?

Ephraim said,“ Surely I have become rich, I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

For I say through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.

“ I know your works, oppression, and your poverty( but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Their eyes were opened, and they both knew that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together, and made coverings for themselves.

He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.

lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses and lived in them;and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him,“ Are we also blind?”Jesus said to them,“ If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say,‘ We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

Yahweh struck the people, because of what they did with the calf, which Aaron made.

“ Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn’t walk naked, and they see his shame.”

“ But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.

Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say,‘ Blessed be Yahweh, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.

For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

For I don’t desire you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, so that you won’t be wise in your own conceits, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in,

True; by their unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by your faith. Don’t be conceited, but fear;

lest I be full, deny you, and say,‘ Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as Yahweh’s servant?

You are already filled. You have already become rich. You have come to reign without us. Yes, and I wish that you did reign, that we also might reign with you.For, I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last of all, like men sentenced to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.

Generation, consider Yahweh’s word. Have I been a wilderness to Israel? Or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say,‘ We have broken loose. We will come to you no more?’

Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in God,know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.You therefore who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn’t steal, do you steal?You who say a man shouldn’t commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?You who glory in the law, do you dishonor God by disobeying the law?
