不过，主再来的日子要像贼一样突然临到。那日，诸天必在一声巨响中消失，有形有质的都要被烈火焚毁，大地和其中的一切将不复存在。

所以，你们要警醒，因为你们不知道你们的主会在哪一天来。你们都知道，如果一家的主人知道贼会在半夜几点来，就必警醒，不让贼入屋偷窃。

“你们都知道，一家的主人若预先知道贼什么时候来，一定不会让贼入屋偷窃。同样，你们也要做好准备，因为在你们意想不到的时候，人子就来了。”

“看啊！我要像贼一样出其不意地来到。那警醒等候，看守自己衣裳，不致赤身行走蒙受羞辱的人有福了。”

亲爱的弟兄姊妹，我现在写给你们的是第二封信。这两封信都是为了提醒你们，激励你们保持真诚的心，

然而，弟兄姊妹，你们不是活在黑暗里，因此那日子不会像贼一样突然临到你们。你们都是光明之子，白昼之子。我们既不属于黑夜，也不属于黑暗。所以不要像其他人一样沉睡，要警醒戒备，

“所以，你们要警醒，因为你们不知道我回来的日子和时辰。

提摩太啊，你要持守所托付给你的，避开世俗的空谈和那些违背真理、似是而非的学问。

因此，我们必须更加重视所听的道，以免随流漂去。

但你们要好好持守自己已经得到的，一直到我来。

你们要小心，警醒祷告，因为你们不知道那日子何时来到。

那时，你们便会想起自己邪恶的行径，并因自己的罪恶和可憎行为而厌恶自己。

凡我所爱的，我都会责备、管教。因此，你要热心起来，也要悔改。

别让他突然回来时看到你们在睡觉。

我曾给她悔改的机会，她却不肯悔改、离弃自己的淫乱行为，所以我必叫她卧病在床。那些与她有染的人若不悔改，也必遭受极大的苦难。

你要以在基督耶稣里的信心和爱心，把从我这里听到的正确教导当作典范遵守，

你接纳你姊妹的时候，会想起自己的所作所为并自觉羞愧。我要将你姊妹赐给你作女儿，我这样做并不是出于我与你所立的约。我要和你立约，使你知道我是耶和华。我要赦免你所有的罪，那时你想起这事会羞愧难当，不敢再开口。这是主耶和华说的。’”

我觉得应当趁着我还在世的时候提醒你们，激励你们，

我很快就要来了！你要持守你所拥有的，免得有人夺去你的冠冕。

你们在那里会想起以往玷污自己的行径，并因自己的一切恶行而憎恶自己。’
