曰、未信之、何能龥之、未聞之、何能信之、

然未信之、何能籲之、未聞之、何能信之、無傳者、何能聞乎、

然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

他又对他们说：“你们到全世界去，向所有的人传福音。信而受洗的必定得救，不信的必被定罪。

到了适当的时候，神就藉着福音的宣讲，把他的道显明出来。照着神我们救主的命令，这宣讲的使命交托了我），

又说：“经上这样记着：基督必须受害，第三天从死人中复活。人要奉他的名，传讲悔改与赦罪的道，从耶路撒冷起，直传到万国。

如果你们听了他，在他里面受过教导，（因为真理是在耶稣里的，）

出于信心的祈祷，可以使病人康复，主必叫他起来；他若犯了罪，也必蒙赦免。

我要救你脱离这人民和外族人，差遣你到他们那里去，开他们的眼睛，使他们从黑暗中归向光明，从撒但的权下归向神，使他们的罪恶得到赦免，并且在那些因信我而成圣的人中同得基业。’

然而主站在我旁边，加给我力量，使福音的信息藉着我尽都传开，万国的人都可以听见；他并且把我从狮子口中救出来。

神能依照我所传的福音和耶稣基督所传的信息，照着他奥秘的启示，坚定你们。这奥秘自古以来秘而不宣，但现在藉着众先知所写的，照着永恒的神的谕旨，已经向万国显明出来，使他们相信而顺服。

我们从他领受了恩典和使徒的职分，在万族中使人因他的名相信而顺服，

尼尼微人信了（“信了”或译：“信服”）神，就宣告禁食，从大到小，都穿上麻衣。这事传到尼尼微王那里，他就起来，离开宝座，脱去王袍，披上麻衣，坐在炉灰中。他又传谕全尼尼微，说：“王和大臣有令：‘人、畜、牛、羊，都不准尝什么，不准吃，也不准喝。不论人畜，都要披上麻衣；各人要恳切呼求神，悔改，离开恶行，摒弃手中的强暴。或者神回心转意，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡。’”

他回答说：“我是希伯来人，我敬畏耶和华天上的神，就是那创造海洋和陆地的。”众人就大大惧怕，对他说：“你为什么这样作呢？（“你为什么这样作呢？”或译：“你作的是什么呢？”）”那些人知道他躲避耶和华，原来约拿告诉了他们。因为海浪越来越汹涌，他们又对他说：“我们该怎样处置你，才能叫海浪平静呢？”

没有信，就不能得到神的喜悦；因为来到神面前的人，必须信神存在，并且信他会赏赐那些寻求他的人。

他说：“没有人指导我，怎能明白呢？”于是请腓利上车，同他坐在一起。

但把这些事记下来，是要你们信耶稣是基督，是神的儿子，并且使你们信了，可以因他的名得生命。

问他们说：“你们信的时候，受了圣灵没有？”他们说：“没有，连圣灵赐下来这件事，我们也没有听过。”

水手都很惧怕，各人向自己的神大声呼求；他们为了减轻船的重量，就把船上的东西抛在海里，可是约拿却下了船舱，躺着熟睡了。

“至于不属于你的子民以色列的外族人，为了你的名的缘故从远地而来，因为他们听到你的大名、大能的手和伸出来的膀臂，他们来向这殿祷告的时候，求你在天上你的居所垂听，照着外族人向你呼求的一切而行，好使地上的万族万民都认识你的名，敬畏你，像你的子民以色列一样；又使他们知道我建造的这殿是称为你的名下的。

那些人就大大敬畏耶和华，向他献祭和许愿。
