那么你就不应该向那些树枝自夸了。而就算你自夸，也不是你托着树根，而是树根托着你。

爾亦不可向舊枝誇勝。爾如欲誇、當思非爾支根、乃根支爾也。

do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

So don’t think you are better than the other branches. Remember, you don’t give life to the root. The root gives life to you.

do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.

But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root.

不错！他们因不信被折了下来，而你因信已经站立得住；你不可心高气傲，反要惧怕；

我另外有羊，不是这圈里的。我必须把他们带来，他们会听我的声音，并且合成一群，同归一个牧人。

破败以先，必有骄傲；绊跌之前，灵里高慢。

既然如此，还有什么可夸耀的呢？根本没有。凭着什么法则呢？凭着行为的法则吗？不是！而是凭着信的法则。

由此可见，你们不再是外人，或寄居的；你们是圣徒的同国之民，是神家里的人，并且被建造在使徒和先知的根基上，有基督耶稣自己为房角石。

彼得对耶稣说：“即使所有的人因你被绊倒，我也绝不会被绊倒。”

所以，那自以为站得住的，应该当心，免得跌倒。

为此，这应许是本于信，好使这应许照着恩典，能确保给所有的后裔——不仅是给属律法的，也是给属亚伯拉罕信心的。亚伯拉罕在神面前是我们每个人的父，

耶稣还对某些自以为义而藐视其他人的，讲了这个比喻：“有两个人上圣殿去祷告。一个是法利赛人，另一个是税吏。那法利赛人站着，向自己祷告这些话：‘神哪，我感谢你，因为我不像其他人那样：勒索、不义、通奸，也不像这个税吏。

而且，如果你们属于基督，你们就是亚伯拉罕的后裔，是照着应许的继承人。

你们敬拜你们所不认识的；我们却敬拜我们所认识的，因为救恩是出自犹太人的。
