那麼你就不應該向那些樹枝自誇了。而就算你自誇，也不是你托著樹根，而是樹根托著你。

do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

So don’t think you are better than the other branches. Remember, you don’t give life to the root. The root gives life to you.

do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.

But you must not brag about being grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root.

不錯！他們因不信被折了下來，而你因信已經站立得住；你不可心高氣傲，反要懼怕；

我另外有羊，不是這圈裡的。我必須把他們帶來，他們會聽我的聲音，並且合成一群，同歸一個牧人。

破敗以先，必有驕傲；絆跌之前，靈裡高慢。

既然如此，還有什麼可誇耀的呢？根本沒有。憑著什麼法則呢？憑著行為的法則嗎？不是！而是憑著信的法則。

由此可見，你們不再是外人，或寄居的；你們是聖徒的同國之民，是神家裡的人，並且被建造在使徒和先知的根基上，有基督耶穌自己為房角石。

彼得對耶穌說：「即使所有的人因你被絆倒，我也絕不會被絆倒。」

所以，那自以為站得住的，應該當心，免得跌倒。

為此，這應許是本於信，好使這應許照著恩典，能確保給所有的後裔——不僅是給屬律法的，也是給屬亞伯拉罕信心的。亞伯拉罕在神面前是我們每個人的父，

萬軍之耶和華如此說：『必有眾民，就是許多城市的居民再次前來，一個城市的居民將到另一個城市去說：「我們快去懇求耶和華的恩寵，尋求萬軍之耶和華吧！我也去！」必有許多的民和強盛的國家前來，在耶路撒冷尋求萬軍之耶和華，懇求耶和華的恩寵。』萬軍之耶和華如此說：『在那些日子，列國的語言群體中，必有十個人抓住一個猶太人的衣襟，說：讓我們與你們同去，因為我們聽說神與你們同在。』」

耶穌還對某些自以為義而藐視其他人的，講了這個比喻：「有兩個人上聖殿去禱告。一個是法利賽人，另一個是稅吏。那法利賽人站著，向自己禱告這些話：『神哪，我感謝你，因為我不像其他人那樣：勒索、不義、通姦，也不像這個稅吏。

而且，如果你們屬於基督，你們就是亞伯拉罕的後裔，是照著應許的繼承人。

你們敬拜你們所不認識的；我們卻敬拜我們所認識的，因為救恩是出自猶太人的。
