Many of the people of Israel are now enemies of the Good News, and this benefits you Gentiles. Yet they are still the people he loves because he chose their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

就着福音说，他们为你们的缘故是仇敌；就着拣选说，他们为列祖的缘故是蒙爱的。

就福音来说，他们为你们的缘故是仇敌；就拣选来说，他们因列祖的缘故是蒙爱的。

以福音言、彼因爾而為敵、以選擇言、因列祖而見愛、

以福音論之、以色列人見棄、為爾曹利、以選擇言之、以色列人見愛、念列祖故也、

以福音論之、彼則為敵、為爾曹也、以選擇論之、彼則見愛、為列祖也、

以福音而論、若輩固因爾之故、而為天主之悖逆矣；若就簡選論之、則若輩托祖宗餘蔭依然為天主之所親也。

As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,

As far as the good news is concerned, the people of Israel are enemies. This is for your good. But as far as God’s choice is concerned, the people of Israel are loved. This is because of God’s promises to the founders of our nation.

As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.

Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs,

In relation to the gospel they are enemies on your account, but in relation to God’s choice they are beloved on account of the fathers;

Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.

As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake.

Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs,

In regard to the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but in regard to election they are dearly loved for the sake of the fathers.

Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake.

Yet the Lord chose your ancestors as the objects of his love. And he chose you, their descendants, above all other nations, as is evident today.

“ Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people.He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David,just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us.He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant—the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham.We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear,in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.

For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanityas they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

Once, you Gentiles were rebels against God, but when the people of Israel rebelled against him, God was merciful to you instead.

Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves.

“ But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend,I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying,‘ You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.

Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

“ But at last my people will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors for betraying me and being hostile toward me.When I have turned their hostility back on them and brought them to the land of their enemies, then at last their stubborn hearts will be humbled, and they will pay for their sins.Then I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors.

He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful.

He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations.This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never ending covenant:“ I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.”

Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions— to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.

So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have— the ones God has chosen— but the hearts of the rest were hardened.

I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

It is not because you are so good or have such integrity that you are about to occupy their land. The Lord your God will drive these nations out ahead of you only because of their wickedness, and to fulfill the oath he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared,“ It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.

Long ago the Lord said to Israel:“ I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.

“ The Lord did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations!Rather, it was simply that the Lord loves you, and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the Lord rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

Some of the Jews, however, spurned God’s message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas.

But when they opposed and insulted him, Paul shook the dust from his clothes and said,“ Your blood is upon your own heads— I am innocent. From now on I will go preach to the Gentiles.”
