And if by grace, then[ is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if[ it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

雖然、既曰蒙恩、則不復憑業；不然、恩將失其所以為恩矣。

And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

And if they are chosen by grace, then they can’t work for it. If that were true, grace wouldn’t be grace anymore.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is— free and undeserved.

Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

Who hath saved us, and called[ us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which[ was bestowed] upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness[ come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou[ art] a stiffnecked people.

Where[ is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,( by grace ye are saved;)And hath raised[ us] up together, and made[ us] sit together in heavenly[ places] in Christ Jesus:That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in[ his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:[ it is] the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.
