but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Rejoice always,pray without ceasing,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings:

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord— that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.

eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish.

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace,comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,

that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.And He said,“ Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said,“ I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

And He said to them,“ Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves;for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;and he will answer from within and say,‘ Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.“ So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

By your patience possess your souls.

But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

“ The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,“ Therefore I hope in Him!”The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord.

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.Also with the lute I will praise you— And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.

Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,saying:“ There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying,‘ Get justice for me from my adversary.’And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself,‘ Though I do not fear God nor regard man,yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”Then the Lord said,“ Hear what the unjust judge said.And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:“ Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself,‘ God, I thank You that I am not like other men— extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying,‘ God, be merciful to me a sinner!’I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.But Jesus called them to Him and said,“ Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying,“ Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”So Jesus said to him,“ Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.You know the commandments:‘ Do not commit adultery,’‘ Do not murder,’‘ Do not steal,’‘ Do not bear false witness,’‘ Honor your father and your mother.’”And he said,“ All these things I have kept from my youth.”So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him,“ You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said,“ How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”And those who heard it said,“ Who then can be saved?”But He said,“ The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”Then Peter said,“ See, we have left all and followed You.”So He said to them,“ Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”Then He took the twelve aside and said to them,“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon.They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.And he cried out, saying,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,saying,“ What do you want Me to do for you?” He said,“ Lord, that I may receive my sight.”Then Jesus said to him,“ Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”

You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death.

Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath,that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,

For what is the hope of the hypocrite, Though he may gain much, If God takes away his life?Will God hear his cry When trouble comes upon him?Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call on God?

As for me, I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me.Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.

In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer.
