“ Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”“ The poison of vipers is on their lips.”

“ Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.”( Psalm 5:9)“ The words from their lips are like the poison of a snake.”( Psalm 140:3)

求主保我身。莫為敵所得。平易爾道路。扶我庶無蹶。

窮兵黷武。心存險惡。

交友無誠意。口蜜心詭譎。求主矯浮薄。復使反樸拙。懲罰巧言者。剪截誇誕舌。

無是理也！即使眾人皆偽、亦不能改天主之真。經云：『主言惟正、睿斷實公、』斯之謂也。

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾猶粉堊之塋、外形雖美、內充屍骸諸穢。爾曹飾義以欺人、而內則虛偽邪惡、無所不有也。

自媚自衒眞宰前。意謂隱私誰能燭。

嗟爾蝮種、本性既惡、言何能善。蓋有蘊於心、口則宣之。善人所蘊者善、所發亦善；惡人所蘊者惡、所發亦惡。

自天降佑。莫使併吞。敵人肆虐。祈爾施恩。

舌在人身、亦復如是其形雖小、其誇實大。星星之火、可以燎原；舌猶火也、亦眾惡之府也；深藏我百體之中、而玷污我七尺之軀、引上地獄之火、而焚燬我生命之輪。一切飛禽走獸、爬蟲鱗介、皆可馴服、且已為人類所馴服矣。惟此三寸之舌、竟無人能馴服之；其惡不息、其毒無比。
