If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your wrongdoings are many, what do you do to Him?If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, Or what does He receive from your hand?

Or who has first given to Him, that it would be paid back to him?

“ Can a strong man be of use to God, Or a wise one be useful to himself?

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

For as long as life is in me, And the breath of God is in my nostrils,

This is what God the Lord says, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it And spirit to those who walk in it:

for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said,‘ For we also are His descendants.’

They all wait for You To give them their food in due season.You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.You hide Your face, they are terrified; You take away their breath, they perish And return to their dust.You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.

Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.

The pronouncement of the word of the Lord concerning Israel: The Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of a person within him, declares:

I said to the Lord,“ You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You.”

so that you may prove yourselves to be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?

Now go and learn what this means:‘ I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”

If He were to determine to do so, If He were to gather His spirit and His breath to Himself,

“ May the Lord, the God of the spirits of humanity, appoint a man over the congregation,

For I will not contend forever, Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would grow faint before Me, And the breath of those whom I have made.

“ I hate, I reject your festivals, Nor do I delight in your festive assemblies.Even though you offer up to Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them; And I will not even look at the peace offerings of your fattened oxen.Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps.

Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, My anger and My wrath will be poured out on this place, on human and animal life, and on the trees of the field and the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and not be quenched.”This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat flesh.For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.But this is what I commanded them, saying,‘ Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.’

But they fell on their faces and said,“ God, the God of the spirits of humanity, when one person sins, will You be angry with the entire congregation?”
