Do not try to stop me. I am going to destroy them. I will wipe them out from the earth. Then I will make you into a great nation. Your people will be stronger than they were. There will be more of you than there were of them.”

The Lord will never pardon such people. Instead his anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the Lord will erase their names from under heaven.

You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever.

Now leave me alone so my fierce anger can blaze against them, and I will destroy them. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation.”But Moses tried to pacify the Lord his God.“ O Lord!” he said.“ Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand?Why let the Egyptians say,‘ Their God rescued them with the evil intention of slaughtering them in the mountains and wiping them from the face of the earth’? Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people!Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You bound yourself with an oath to them, saying,‘ I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. And I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.’”

May all his offspring die. May his family name be blotted out in the next generation.

We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I wouldn’t help them. Away with them! Get them out of my sight!

And suppose he calls out from his bedroom,‘ Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’But I tell you this— though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.“ And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.

“ You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!

But now, if you will only forgive their sin— but if not, erase my name from the record you have written!”But the Lord replied to Moses,“ No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against me.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Do not pray for these people anymore.

O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord.Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?I will disown them and destroy them with a plague. Then I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they are!”

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.“ There was a judge in a certain city,” he said,“ who neither feared God nor cared about people.A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying,‘ Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself,‘ I don’t fear God or care about people,but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”Then the Lord said,“ Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
