In fact, truth can’t be found anywhere. Those who refuse to do evil are attacked. The Lord sees that people aren’t treating others fairly. That makes him unhappy.

The time when God will punish you is coming. The day when he will judge you is near. I want Israel to know this. You have committed many sins. And you hate me very much. That’s why you think the prophet is foolish. You think the person the Lord speaks through is crazy.

What he did was evil in the Lord’ s eyes. So the Lord put him to death also.

His family heard about this. So they went to take charge of him. They said,“ He is out of his mind.”

Not a word from their mouths can be trusted. Their hearts are filled with a desire to hurt others. Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.

After many days, the Jews had a meeting. They planned to kill Saul.

“ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada. He has put you in charge of the Lord’ s house. You are supposed to arrest any crazy person who claims to be a prophet. You should put him in prison. You should put iron bands around his neck.

So say to them,‘ You are a nation that has not obeyed the Lord your God. You did not pay attention when you were corrected. Truth has died out. You do not tell the truth anymore.’ ”

Meanwhile, Saul continued to oppose the Lord’s followers. He said they would be put to death. He went to the high priest.

While Paul was still presenting his case, Festus interrupted.“ You are out of your mind, Paul!” he shouted.“ Your great learning is driving you crazy!”

Are we“ out of our minds,” as some people say? If so, it is because we want to serve God. Does what we say make sense? If so, it is because we want to serve you.

Help, Lord! No one does what is right anymore. Those who are faithful have disappeared from the human race.Everyone tells lies to their neighbors. With their lips they praise others, but they don’t really mean it.

The Lord says,“ Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look around. Think about what you see. Search through the market. See if you can find one honest person who tries to be truthful. If you can, I will forgive this city.They make their promises in my name. They say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord is alive.’ But their promises can’t be trusted.”

Jehu went out to where the other officers were. One of them asked him,“ Is everything all right? Why did that crazy man come to you?”“ You know the man. You know the kinds of things he says,” Jehu replied.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

People of Jacob, listen to me. You are called by the name of Israel. You come from the family line of Judah. You make promises in the name of the Lord. You pray to Israel’s God. But you aren’t honest. You don’t mean what you say.

Your eyes are too pure to look at what is evil. You can’t put up with the wrong things people do. So why do you put up with those who can’t be trusted? The evil Babylonians swallow up those who are more godly than themselves. So why are you silent?You have made people to be like the fish in the sea. They are like the sea creatures that don’t have a ruler.

People of Israel, listen to the Lord’ s message. He is bringing charges against you who live in Israel. He says,“ There is no faithfulness or love in the land. No one recognizes me as God.People curse one another. They tell lies and commit murder. They steal and commit adultery. They break all my laws. They keep spilling the blood of other people.

Some were made fun of and even whipped. Some were held by chains. Some were put in prison.Some were killed with stones. Some were sawed in two. Some were killed by swords. They went around wearing the skins of sheep and goats. They were poor. They were attacked. They were treated badly.The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains. They lived in caves. They lived in holes in the ground.

Faithful people have disappeared from the land. Those who are honest are gone. Everyone hides and waits to spill the blood of others. They use nets to try and trap one another.

When her time of sadness was over, David had her brought to his house. She became his wife. And she had a son by him. But the Lord wasn’t pleased with what David had done.

It is written,“ Because of you, we face death all day long. We are considered as sheep to be killed.”( Psalm 44:22)

Then they cried out,“ Now we know you are controlled by a demon! Abraham died. So did the prophets. But you say that whoever obeys your word will never die.

Many of them said,“ He is controlled by a demon. He has gone crazy! Why should we listen to him?”
