男人、婦人、幼童、和王的女兒們、跟護衛長尼布撒拉旦所留在沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利那裏的眾人和神言人耶利米、以及尼利亞的兒子巴錄；

神言人耶利米對尼利亞的兒子巴錄所說的話、是猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬四年、巴錄由耶利米口傳將這些話寫在書上時所聽到的；他說：『巴錄啊，永恆主以色列之上帝對你這麼說：你曾說過，「我有禍啊！永恆主將憂愁加在我的痛苦之上；我歎息得困乏了，總不得安寧。」

王竟吩咐王子耶拉篾、亞次列的兒子西萊雅、和亞伯疊的兒子示利米雅去捉拿祕書巴錄和神言人耶利米；然而永恆主卻將他們隱藏着。

於是首領們對王說：『這個人該受處死；因為他向這城裏剩下的軍兵和眾民說了這樣的話，是叫軍兵的手和眾民的手都軟下來；因為這個人不是謀求這人民得平安，只是謀求他們受災禍罷了。

於是耶利米把尼利亞的兒子巴錄叫來；巴錄就由耶利米口傳將永恆主的一切話、就是他對耶利米所說的、都寫在書卷上。

巴錄就在永恆主之殿的上院、永恆主之殿的新門口、沙番的兒子祕書基瑪利雅的廂房中、把書上耶利米的話念給眾民聽。

人辱罵你們，逼迫你們，憑空虛造說出各樣壞話毁謗你們；為了我的緣故、你們是有福的。應當歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞報很大；因為你們以前的神言人，人也這樣逼迫他們。

他們跟我作對頭來報我的愛；但我呢，我只是禱告。

人恨惡你們，隔絕你們，辱罵並革除你們的名、認為是惡，為了人子的緣故、你們是有福的。當那日子、你們要歡喜跳躍；因為你看，你們在天上的賞報是大的；因為他們的祖宗對神言人們也這樣行。

眾人都說你們好的時候、你們有禍啊！因為他們的祖宗對假的神言人也這樣行。
