神言人向王說話的時候，王對他說：『我們何曾立你做參謀呢？你止住、別說吧！為甚麼硬要被打死呢？』那神言人就止住了；可又再說：『我知道上帝是定下了主意要滅絕你的，因為你行這事，不聽我給你出的主意。』

你們若死心塌地地住在這地，我就建立你們，必不傾覆；栽植你們，必不拔除；因為對降禍與你們、我改變了心意了。你們所怕的巴比倫王、你們不要怕；不要怕他，永恆主發神諭說，因為是我與你們同在，要拯救你們，要援救你們脫離他的手。我要向你們施憐憫，叫他憐憫你們，使你們仍住你們本地。倘若你們說：「我們不住這地」，就這樣不聽永恆主你們的上帝的聲音，

我說，雖即那貧窮漢的智慧儘管被藐視，而他的話儘管無人聽從，然智慧終是勝過勇力的。
