先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「難道我們立你作王的謀士嗎？你住口吧！為何要挨打呢？」先知就止住了，卻說：「我知道上帝已定意要消滅你，因為你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒。」

『你們若仍留在這地，我就建立你們，必不拆毀；栽植你們，必不拔出；因我為所降與你們的災禍感到遺憾。不要怕你們所懼怕的巴比倫王。不要怕他！因為我與你們同在，要拯救你們脫離他的手。這是耶和華說的。我要向你們施憐憫，他就憐憫你們，使你們歸回本地。』倘若你們說：『我們不留在這地』，不聽從耶和華－你們上帝的話，

我就說，智慧勝過勇力；然而那貧窮人的智慧被人藐視，他的話也無人聽從。
