“ Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devoured us, he has thrown us into confusion, he has made us an empty jar. Like a serpent he has swallowed us and filled his stomach with our delicacies, and then has spewed us out.

The people of Jerusalem say,“ Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me; he has made me an empty vessel; he has swallowed me like a monster; he has filled his stomach with my delicacies; he has rinsed me out.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and drained us of strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out of our own country.

以色列乃離散之羊、為獅所逐、始則亞述王吞噬之、終則巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒折其骨、

維爾諸敵、厥口孔張兮、嗤笑而切齒曰、吾儕吞滅之兮、我所望者、誠是日也、亦既覯止、亦既見止兮、

禍哉、爾偽善之士子、與法利賽人乎、

故爾當預言曰、主耶和華云、敵人使爾荒涼、四周吞噬、俾為列國遺民之業、為喋喋者談論、被人毀謗、

爾欲吞噬窮乏、滅絕斯土之貧民者、其聽我言、

耶和華恢復雅各之榮、如疇昔以色列之榮、蓋刦者已刦之、且毀傷其葡萄之枝、

予罪之軛、其手所繫兮、連結加於我項、使我力敗兮、主付我於敵手、我不能禦兮、我中勇士、主委棄之兮、召集大會攻我、制我少年兮、主踐猶大處女、如踐酒醡兮、

掠其銀、刦其金、寶藏無盡、珍器甚多、邑既空虛荒涼、人心消沮、兩膝相觸、腰間痛楚、面俱失色、

巴比倫曾使以色列見殺者顚仆、如是、巴比倫見殺者、亦必顚仆於其地、

生吞之如陰府、俾其壯健入墓、

噫嘻是邑、昔則居民充盈、今則何其寂寞兮、昔為邦國之長、今如嫠婦兮、昔於諸州為郡主、今則供役兮、

摩押自幼安逸、若酒澄滓、未從此器傾於彼器、故其味猶存、香氣未變、耶和華曰、時日將至、我必遣司酒者傾之、空其器、毀其缾、

凡遇之者、則吞噬之、敵曰、耶和華為義所、乃其列祖之望、而彼干犯之、故我儕無罪焉、
