For the time will surely come when I will punish the idols of Babylon; her whole land will be disgraced and her slain will all lie fallen within her.

I will punish the gods of Babylon. That time will certainly come. Then the whole land will be full of shame. Its people will lie down and die there.

“ Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will punish the images of Babylon; her whole land shall be put to shame, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

For the time is surely coming when I will punish this great city and all her idols. Her whole land will be disgraced, and her dead will lie in the streets.

『你們要傳揚於列國中，使他們聽到，要把旌旗豎起；要使人聽到，不可隱瞞，說：「巴比倫已被攻取，彼勒蒙羞愧，米羅達驚慌；巴比倫的神像都蒙羞愧，她的偶像都驚慌。」

『故此你看，日子必到，永恆主發神諭說，我必察罰巴比倫的雕像；他全境內受刺傷的人都必哀哼。

彼勒屈身仆倒，尼波彎腰跌落；巴比倫人的偶像馱在獸和牲口上，他們抬的偶像如今成了重載、馱在疲乏的牲口上。他們一概彎腰跌落，屈身仆倒，不能保全重馱，自己反倒被擄而去。

看哪，這裏來了做騎兵的人，馬兵一隊一隊地來！』他就回答說：『垮台了！巴比倫垮台了！她的神所有的雕像、主都給摔碎於地上了。』

『永恆主發神諭說：刀劍哪，攻擊迦勒底人哦！攻擊巴比倫的居民哦！攻擊她的首領和智慧人哦！讓刀劍攻擊胡謅的豫言者，使他們愚昧無能！讓刀劍攻擊她的勇士，使他們驚慌失措！讓刀劍攻擊她的馬匹和車輛，攻擊其中的雜族眾人，使他們變像婦人女子！讓刀劍攻擊她的寶物，使它們都被劫掠！讓刀劍攻擊她的眾水，使它們都乾涸！因為這是有雕像之地，人們都因怪偶像而瘋瘋癲癲。『因此曠野猛獸跟豺狼必住在那裏；鴕鳥也必住於其中；永不再有人住；世世代代終無人居。就如上帝傾覆所多瑪蛾摩拉與其鄰近城市一樣，永恆主發神諭說，必沒有人住在那裏，也無人寄居於其中。

偶像簡直是虛無，是惹人嘲笑的傑作！到受察罰時、一定滅亡。

『七十年滿了以後，永恆主發神諭說，我必察罰巴比倫王以及那國，我必鑒察他們的罪孽，察罰迦勒底人之地，使它永遠荒涼。

『但我就必在你們眼前報罰巴比倫和迦勒底所有的居民在錫安所行的一切壞事：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

他們立你自己所慣視為良友的為首來轄制你，那你還有甚麼話說呢？痛苦豈不將你抓住，像抓住生產的婦人一樣呢？

她的城市變成了荒涼、乾旱草原之地，無人居住、全無人類經過。

因此萬軍之永恆主這麼說：『看吧，我必察罰他們；他們的青年人必死於刀下；他們的兒女必在饑荒中滅盡；

然而你們的母卻要極慚愧，生你們的必蒙羞辱。看吧，她必列在諸國之末，成為曠野、旱地、草原。因永恆主的震怒，她必無人居住，乃要全然荒涼；凡經過巴比倫的、都必驚駭，也必因她所受的一切擊傷而嗤笑。所有拉弓的啊，你們要在巴比倫四圍擺陣，射箭攻擊她，不要顧惜箭枝，因為她犯罪得罪了永恆主。你們要四圍吶喊攻擊她；她已授手投降了；她的外郭倒壞了；她的城牆翻毁了；因為這是永恆主報復的事：你們要向巴比倫報復：她怎樣待人，你們也要怎樣待她。你們要將巴比倫的撒種者和收割時揮着鐮刀的、都剪除掉；因怕欺壓人者的刀劍，他們各人都必轉向自己本族之民，各人都必逃回自己之地。

無論是神言人、是祭司、抑或任何人民、凡說「永恆主之神託」的，那人和他的家、我都要察罰。
