“ They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.

“ They get ready to use their tongues like bows,” announces the Lord.“ Their mouths shoot out lies like arrows. They tell lies to gain power in the land. They go from one sin to another. They do not pay any attention to me.

Their tongue is a deadly arrow. It speaks deceit. One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart, he waits to ambush him.

transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter.Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.

“ Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit.”“ The poison of vipers is under their lips.”

Now the sons of Eli were wicked men. They didn’t know Yahweh.

Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.

Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah.You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue.

and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

Friends deceive each other, and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves commiting iniquity.

Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.The best of them is like a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come; now is the time of their confusion.Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness.No one sues in righteousness, and no one pleads in truth. They trust in vanity, and speak lies. They conceive mischief, and give birth to iniquity.They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs dies; and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.
