“ Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer.

Be on guard against your friends. Do not trust the members of your own family. Every one of them cheats. Every friend tells lies.

Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.

“ Beware of your neighbor! Don’t even trust your brother! For brother takes advantage of brother, and friend slanders friend.

Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth From her who lies in your bosom.For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers. They are bronze and iron, They are all corrupters;

They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things,

He who hates, disguises it with his lips, And lays up deceit within himself;When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, For there are seven abominations in his heart;

You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.

Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.

And He said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

For even your brothers, the house of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you; Yes, they have called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, Even though they speak smooth words to you.

But he said,“ Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.”And Esau said,“ Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” And he said,“ Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”

He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

A man who bears false witness against his neighbor Is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow.

“ Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.For I have come to‘ set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’;

But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.

that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.

You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

Destruction is in its midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets.For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.

In you are men who slander to cause bloodshed; in you are those who eat on the mountains; in your midst they commit lewdness.

“ Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.
